• neil josten doesn’t know how to react to illness
• when he was on the run with his mother he always hid it. he didn’t want to slow them down, didn’t want to get them caught by his father and co. just because of him not being able to run at his top game because it hurts to breathe. 
• he powered through anything and even when he didn’t need to run any more, he didn’t ever let his illness stop him from doing anything
• so him showing up to practice sick on a wednesday morning doesn’t surprise kevin, and it sure as hell doesn’t surprise andrew
• they let him power through the weight room, and through the warm up lap around the outer court, but when he’s leaning up against the court walls just to stay up right, kevin decides that neil is taking it too far
• and neil argues. he always argues. 
• “kevin, i’m fine.” 
• “prove it. take a shot.” 
• his arms are too heavy to lift, his breathing is just on the side of ragged, and his legs wobbled ever so slightly when he pushed himself off the wall. 
• neil admits defeat pretty quickly when the racquet slips out of his fingers and he cant physically pick it back up
• he’s curled up on the couch with a blanket wrapped tightly around him when kevin and andrew get back from the morning practice
• they’re both showered and in sweatpants so kevin sits on his left, while andrew walks into the kitchen and comes back out to toss a water bottle at neil
• next comes the bucket that neil refused to get even though he threw up right after andrew drove him home
• “you’re such a fucking child.” andrew rolls his eyes after coming to sit next to him
• neil rolls his eyes and rests his head on kevin’s shoulder while holding out his hand to andrew
• “if youve sneezed on this fucking hand neil i will kill you” he takes neils hand anyway
  
• neil starts shivering after an hour into a movie kevin put on and doesn’t object when kevin pulls him closer so that he has the added body heat
• with neils insistence that hes fine, it takes him a moment too long to realise that hes going to be sick
• luckily andrew picked up on the signs and pushes neil down by the back of the neck so that he actually throws up int he bucket 
• andrew gets up to get more water for their resident junkie, but doesn’t throw it at him this time, he just sits back down and rests his hand on the back of neils neck just in case, his thumb brushing against neils hairline
• kevin quickly starts on a lecture, saying that it wont do any of them well if neil runs himself into the ground by pushing too hard when hes sick, and that hes not going to help the team, just hinder it, because hes still kevin of course even to his sick boyfriend
• neil brushes it off because hes so used to pushing himself, so used to giving everything his all that he doesnt know how to stop
• but, of course, kevin is used to that too
• neil experienced part of what kevins life was like when he entered the ravens nest, so he can see through kevins lecture to the worry underneath
• so he agrees 
• “if i throw up tomorrow then i wont come to practice” he murmurs
• it doesnt quite sound like a promise, but it’s a start

yessss omg ok this prompt is so cute i had to answer it right away so!!! (warning: fluff ahead)

• it’s allison who buys neil the iphone, and nicky who makes the instagram for him with the username “qtjosten”
  
• his first post is a selfie nicky takes of the two of them together, with nicky throwing up a giant peace sign and neil squinting his eyes at the camera like “the fuck”
  
• andrew is So Judgmental, but he buys an iphone once neil has one and literally makes an instagram just to follow him (his username is probably something lame like “am_00012345” lets be real)
  
• kevin already had an instagram of course, with the user “kday” and a million followers, he posts super sexy post-workout selfies and a bunch of sponsored posts from fitness companies
  
• anyway, neil is super unsure about the whole thing at first, bc he’s always been such a private person. but he quickly gets sucked in because he loves being able to post about the foxes and what he’s doing and he’s also immediately a selfie EXPERT
  
• this boy doesn’t even TRY on his selfies, honestly. the first one he posts by himself, he’s sitting by the window in the dorm and the light is perfect on his face and he’s just??? so fucking pretty?? eyes all wide and blue and sparkling and pink lips and hair curling over his forehead god he’s so cute
